Ash mentioned to you guys on Tuesday that the two of us have made major changes to our diet. My changes in diet are similar to Ashley's. I have sensitivity to wheat, gluten, chicken, eggs and a few other things... weird right?! All I can say is, for me, learning what my body wanted and didn't want has been the most wonderful experience. With that being said, true to form, most women are never happy. I have lost 6 dress sizes and now have very few clothes that fit. With spring starting and a very frustrated husband (whom I am making late to EVERYTHING due to my marathons of trying on every too big item in my closet while trying to get dressed)... I decided it was time to Spring Clean my closet!
Step One: Try on everything, yes...everything! Regardless of the reason for the closet clean out, this is a good idea. It helps you really see what you will honestly wear again. If you question it even a little, it should probably go. If you aren't ready to let go fully, make sure you mark that item or make a special area for clothes that are on "Probation". After about 3 days of trying on my closet, I had a mountain of clothes that I could not wear and about a half of a clothing rack that I can.
Step Two: Sort, Sort and Sort some more. separate anything you want to give to friends, donate to a charity such as Goodwill, take to an exchange shop or if its in bad shape you may just need to toss it.
Step Three: Get it out of the house! It's holding you back. Get a box or bag for Goodwill or charity of your choice and put it in the car. Then, do the same for the other places you plan to take your clothes.
Now, I mentioned an exchange shop?? Well, think Consignment but way easier. I chose Buffalo Exchange.
I took a ridiculous amount of clothes of mine and my husband. Then after sifting through and closely examining everything, they offered me about $80 in-store credit for the items they chose to sell. I also had the option to take cash, but I would only received $49. Needless to say, I chose store credit. Some items are still being sold at full price and a couple things I bought still had new tags on them! You can not beat the prices anyway, but to buy it all with things you are not wearing makes the deal that much sweeter.
Here is my haul!
